Some homes have details that are simply too special to remove. This bathroom niche was one of those features left behind in an old house. Instead of covering it up or turning it into an ordinary shelf, I decided to create a small ceramic mosaic for it.
It was designed specifically for this space, based on the niche’s exact dimensions and proportions. I wanted it to become a quiet focal point – a small discovery waiting to be noticed each time you enter the room.
I love it when ceramics become more than objects displayed on a shelf and instead become a natural part of the interior. Projects like this require more planning, but that’s exactly why the finished piece feels as though it has always belonged there.
